Time Assessment

"Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein." H. Jackson Brown Jr. (author)

When is the last time you assessed your time?  How well do you know how you spend your time in a given day, week or month?  When you increase your self-awareness as to how you spend your time you can find small amounts of time on a daily or weekly basis.  Doing so provides you with tremendous opportunities to think more effectively, take action and achieve the personal and professional growth required to succeed.

Action Steps - To assess how you spend your time please complete the following PDF form or answer the questions below on a sheet of paper.  If you wish to, complete this exercise once a week or once a month so you can increase the frequency of your awareness of how you spend your time.

  • Sleep
  • Eat
  • Work

Where can you take 60 minutes from on a given weekend day?  Explain

Example: How your time adds up:

  • When you find 30 minutes for four week days each that equals 2 hours.  When you find 60 minutes for each weekend day that equals 2 hours.  You now have made it a priority to find 4 hours in one week.
  • When you multiple 4 x 4 (number of weeks in a month) = 16 hours a month available for you
  • When you multiple 16 x 12 (number of months in a year) = 192 hours a year available for you
  • When you multiple 192 x 10 (number of years in a decade) = 1,920  hours a decade available for you

What is your equation?

  • How many hours in a given week can you find?
  • Multiple that number of hours x 4 (weeks in a month).  How many hours in a month can you find?
  • Multiple that number of hours x 12 (months in a year) How many hours in a year can you find?
  • Multiple that number of hours x 10 (years in a decade).  How many hours in a decade can you find?
